We believe the design process should be a collaboration between designer and client. We start by actively listening to our clients’ needs, welcoming and encouraging their creative input. After all, nobody knows the advantages and limitations of a space better than those who use it every day.

Chris studied architecture and interior design at UCLA and has more than a decade of practical experience in the design industry. Finding art in nature, Chris strives to create subtle elegance using neutral palettes with organic elements. An avid proponent for historical preservation, he revels in the challenge of modernizing spaces while preserving historical integrity.
In addition to his passion for design, Chris also possesses a good working knowledge of construction practices and procedures. “Contractors and I can speak the same language. I have always been interested in how things are built, or what function they serve, as opposed to just thinking, ‘this looks good in the space.’ I work hard to incorporate this knowledge into all digital renderings; conceptual and practical. I feel that it’s essential for designer, contractor, and client to be working from one set of plans from the very early stages of a project.”
A designer who is creative and innovative without the typical ‘designer’ ego, Chris and his team work side-by-side with clients to bring their visions to life. His philosophy is that the design process should be collaborative, organic, and exciting.

Education: Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design from Ball State, Yestermorrow Design Build School, Turner School of Construction Management. We believe that every person and project is unique, thus deserving a unique and custom solution. So, when you bring your ideas, dreams or projects to us we are going to approach it first from the perspective of a designer. For us that means looking at each project through the lens of new possibilities, asking “what could this be”, and coupling that with the wisdom wrought from years of experience designing and building.

It’s no surprise that James Fahy has a passion for creative arts. Born with innate music talent, James carried his creative pursuits through college – earning a Bachelors Degree in Business with an emphasis in Marketing from Nichols College in the greater Boston area. James was successful in many business pursuits, but craved a career that allowed him to combine his creative talents while helping others in the process.
When James entered the construction industry he was inspired by the opportunity to bring creative ideas to life. It didn’t take long before he saw the potential to make contracting processes more efficient and enjoyable for the consumer. When he founded Deep Rooted Designs, he did so with the mission to help clients feel educated, confident, and informed about their investments.
James prides himself in understanding every client’s dreams and doing whatever possible to bring those dreams to fruition. He feels most successful when clients send referrals stating, “if you’re going to consider a backyard remodel, you HAVE to call Deep Rooted Designs.”
